I really like this movie. I saw it with my brother one night at like 2am in the morning on A&E about 10 yrs. ago. We missed the opening credits, so we didn't know who was in it, or who directed it. We just kept seeing all these actors we liked, and they were all kids! That, and the fact that I grew up around a lot of gangs, and could relate to some of the characters, made it a great film for me.

Mrs. Thuro's Mom: I know I'm in the minority on Sin City. Many film geeks love that movie, for some reason. I responded to Rumble Fish because the style reflected more of a theatrical experience, instead of a CGI one. Mickey Rourke's face is completely obscured in Sin City whereas here, you can see a human being giving a performance.

AR: I hope to devote some time to a whole series of Coppola in the '80s. The standard line for so long has been that Coppola "lost it" after Apocalypse Now, yet I find amazing things in almost every film he directed in the period. As for Tom Waits, I was excited to see him in this cast as well. He plays a fly swatting soda jerk . It sounds like you and I have more similar taste in movies and music than I thought!

This is one of those films I've meant to see for years, primarily, I admit, for Tom Waits's appearance. Your review has given me a better idea of what to expect and even makes me want to see it now. There are a bunch of Coppola films I still haven't seen.

I'm guilty of loving Sin City myself, though I will contend that part of its success has to do with the source.

I guess I need to watch this one again, because it has been years since I've seen it. I remember loving the look of the film, but not being terribly impressed with the story, so maybe I should give it another shot. (Incidentally, I love "Sin City"! It's fascinating visually, and the movie is a lot of fun. I guess I have a very warped sense of humor.)
