Who knows how to get a reprint of the Esquire article in 1978, written by Aaron Latham, “The Ballad of the Urban Cowboy: America’s Search for True Grit.” This is the article on which the movie was based.

It was a single-wide trailer they moved into, not a doublewide. This writer doesn’t know trailers and he doesn’t get this movie. Urban Cowboy is far from “Hollywood glam”.

Classmate Richard Clay (passed-on) can be seen seated in the background watching the convict guy ride the bull for the first time. Richard can also be seen dancing by the camera in another scene.

I rode that bull in June of 1980. Didn’t fall off ! Tore every muscle from crotch to ankles. Jim Beam and Gilleys beer! Loved that experience. I still love the woman who experienced it with me! Those were the days!!!!

Don’t believe a word this clown says about this movie being shallow and vapid. It is a true classic and the soundtrack is fantastic. A must see!
